Black
Rock Development, the developers of the Kendall Yards mixed-use project
in Spokane, today announced that an official groundbreaking ceremony is
planned for Thursday, May 17th, 2007.
The ceremony will take place at the Phase 1 site at N. Monroe Street and W. Ide Avenue. The site will be open at 2:00 pm and will include viewing of master plan renderings and student artwork from Holmes Elementary School. The groundbreaking ceremony will begin at 3:00 pm and will include participation by State and local dignitaries. A festival will follow the ceremony to include music, kid's activities and refreshments. This groundbreaking event will commence the infrastructure construction of the approximately 20 acre Phase 1 site between the Monroe and Maple Street bridges.

Parking will be available on-site as well as adjacent lots across W. Ide Avenue. Free shuttle service will also be available provided by STA. The shuttles will run from downtown Spokane at the Kendall Yards office at 110 N. Post Street to the Kendall Yards site from 2:30 to 3:30 pm. Return shuttle service will run from 4:30 to 6:00 pm.
