Count on a second course to take shape soon at The Club at Black Rock in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, developed by Black Rock Development. Tom Weiskopf is set to pen course number two there as part of the second phase development expansion, which will add 1,150 acres to the property, a new clubhouse and an additional 345 membership opportunities. Jim Engh designed the first track there as part of the project's Phase I, which also included 375 home sites, 320 of which have been sold so far. In addition to the Weiskopf course, Phase II will consist of an 18-hole putting green, a par-3 course and a new practice area. Wadsworth Golf Construction Company is the contractor for the course, which is scheduled to open in spring 2009. Black Rock Development President Roger Nelson counts on drawing people from the Phoenix/Scottsdale market, Southern California, Dallas and Las Vegas; although he knows home sales have slowed down due to the housing crunch. However, the higher-end lots and residences haven't been affected as much, mirroring a trend across the country where the highest-end homes continue to sell. Black Rock will manage both courses upon completion.
