Cross the border into Idaho and it's not hard to find the shores of LakeCoeur d’Alene. The town of Coeur d'Alene has been a popular vacation destination from about the time the glaciers melted, but it took until The Club at Black Rock was opened in 2003 before the area had a private golf community commensurate with its natural surroundings.

 

The dramatic, Jim Engh-designed course at Black Rock, with multiple greenside waterfalls crashing down the basalt rock cliffs, will soon be partnered with a Tom Weiskopf design as part of the property's 1,000-acre Phase II addition.
